Stakeholder experiences of a public safety personnel work reintegration program

Public safety personnel (PSP) are at risk of experiencing operational stress injuries (OSIs). The functional impairments caused by OSIs can contribute to challenges with returning pre-injury requirements. A Canadian municipal policing agency developed a peer-led workplace reintegration program (RP) assist PSP in their after an illness or injury. Although this RP has been used internationally, there is paucity research on and its implementation organizations. perspectives key stakeholders important for capturing the current state RPs future directions advocacy, implementation, sustainability, spread RP, set stage research. purpose study was explore experiences engaged creation, facilitation, execution Alberta, Canada. This will help identify strengths, barriers, facilitators, needs, processes, attitudes associated direction qualitative thematic analysis focus groups (N=8) involving (N=30) from five organizations conducted using community-engaged approach as part larger mixed-methods study. Four themes emerged participants: (1) Integral elements success, (2) (3) Key areas growth, (4) Evolution Program. While highly regarded stakeholders, it essential that evidence-based guide evaluation, modification, spread, scale globally.
